Years 19-24 ( Young Adult Years)
During this time period my baby was between the age 19-24 years old.
So Winston just turned 21 the other day. He is going to college and doing great. But he is still suffering from his anxiety disorder. He has been on the medication for a couple years now. We have jumped around a few trying to figure out what fit him best and we stuck with the one with less side effects. College has been very stressful for him because he has been forced to break out of his shell and face a lot of his fears. He is constantly worried about tests, projects, presentations, family, and life. He is having less panic attacks since the medication controls the symptoms, it happens less often. I am trying to get him to go out more and have fun, but he is just to caught up in school and worried about failure. I am encouraging him to get a job to help me pay for college, but I feel that putting him in that situation would predispose him to future meltdowns and panic attacks, so I wont rush him. I guess...... http://www.adaa.org/living-with-anxiety/college-students |
